Crossroads Casino Awaiting Zoning ApprovalCrossroads Gaming Resort will build a casino in Adams County, Pennsylvania, if the Straban Township Zoning Board approves the proposal. CEO of Crossroad, David LeVan said, "We're certainly confident that we will end up getting the zoning approved." The opposing group, NO CASINO GETTYSBURG, Susan Star-Paddock said "They were discussing whether to say this is a good thing for Gettysburg. This is not a good thing for Gettysburg." Obviously there were split decisions in the Adams County community. That is the purpose of the hearing being made by the Straban Township Zoning Board. The project would build a hotel, restaurant, spa and slot machine parlor along Routes 15 and 30 within a mile of a portion of the Gettysburg Battlefiend. Levan said: "So the question I would say is 'Why not?' You've got tourists coming now. This is gonna bring additional tourists. Huge economic benefits to the area. I think there is more to say why bring it to the area than there is to say why not bring it to the area." Star-Paddock said in contrary, "It really won't matter because in the long run the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board is going to say 'no chance, no casino Gettysburg." The zoning board will have ample time to gather final results of an updated traffic study and release their decision. They are not expected to reach a decision until late August. |
